Dopo la precedente anteprima dedicata al nuovo Color Tex, ecco a voi la nostra nuova recensione, anch’essa in anteprima assoluta, dedicata al nuovo Tex mensile intitolato Il ritorno di Padma, secondo albo della seconda parte della lunga saga dedicata al ritorno di Mefisto e Yama. Il soggetto e la sceneggiatura sono sempre ad opera del curatore Mauro Boselli, mentre i disegni, così come nell’albo precedente, sono del veterano Fabio Civitelli.
Lo ammetto: il secondo albo della seconda parte è davvero complesso, tuttavia non sappiamo come descriverlo altrimenti. La lunga saga di Mefisto e Yama è iniziata con una trilogia scritta da Boselli e disegnata dai fratelli Raul e Gianluca Cestaro e si è sviluppata tra aprile e giugno, mentre tutta la seconda e ultima parte si compone di quattro albi e sono tutti ad opera di Civitelli.

Sinossi: dopo essere fuggito dal manicomio di Black Mountain, all’interno del quale aveva assunto l’identità fittizia del dottor Weyland, Mefisto, Ruth e altri suoi complici hanno portato Yama in un posto sicuro facendo perdere le proprie tracce. Obiettivo di Mefisto è guarire Yama dalla pazzia e usarlo come alleato contro Tex e i suoi pards. Tuttavia, Yama non è l’unico complice che può aiutare Mefisto: condannata al carcere di Yuma, sua sorella Lily Dickart è pronta a tornare di nuovo a fianco del negromante. Allo stesso tempo, Tex e i suoi pards hanno trovato un nuovo e inaspettato alleato: Padma, il lama tibetano dal passato oscuro che un tempo fu alleato di Mefisto e suo maestro nella magia nera. Dopo aver quasi perso la vita, Padma è intenzionato a porre fine alle malefatte del suo ex alleato e si unisce a Tex e ai pards, i quali si recano da un altro esperto di magia: El Morisco.
Questo nuovo albo si caratterizza per essere, forse anche più del primo che ha dato inizio alla saga, interamente centrato sui dialoghi e sullo sviluppo della narrazione per spostamenti e incontri: si tratta di uno degli albi di Tex con meno bang in assoluto, interamente parlato e privo di scene d’azione.
Se questo è un bene o un male spetterà ai lettori deciderlo, mentre quello che in questa sede mi preme evidenziare è l’elevato tempo di lettura richiesto: Tex, con le sue 110 pagine, è uno degli albi Bonelli che richiedono maggior tempo per essere letto dall’inizio alla fine e questa volta, data la totale assenza di scene d’azione (belle finché si vuole, ma, ammettiamolo, consentono al lettore di voltare rapidamente pagine su pagine), il tempo di lettura richiesto è molto maggiore.
Boselli utilizza questo secondo capitolo per preparare le due squadre che compongono le fazioni in campo: ognuna di queste fazioni ha un grande leader, Tex o Mefisto, e un nutrito gruppo di comprimari a loro supporto. Una soluzione tipicamente texiana e boselliana che strizza, involontariamente o no, l’occhio a diverse produzioni tipiche del fumetto orientale.
Trattandosi di un albo interamente parlato, alcuni lettori potrebbero storcere il naso, tuttavia l’ampiezza della narrazione (quattro albi, sette in totale) consente a Boselli di prendersi del tempo in più per delinare le forze in campo e consentire ad ognuno dei vari personaggi di svolgere il proprio ruolo all’interno della storia senza improvvise accelerazioni o compressioni dovute alle poche pagine a disposizione.
Come detto sopra, ai lettori l’ardua sentenza.
Civitelli, dopo un albo intero ambientato nella neve, torna nei territori a lui più congeniali, ovvero gli assolati deserti del sudovest dove può sfogarsi con il proprio stile puntinato (non che nel numero precedente si sia trattenuto, intendiamoci), sempre elegante e raffinato. Apparentemente Civitelli, proprio per via del suo stile, dovrebbe essere l’autore più lontano della scuderia di Tex per disegnare una storia di Mefisto, tuttavia ha già dimostrato di essere in grado di adattarsi perfettamente a certe atmosfere lugubri tipiche delle storie dello stregone.
Se con un personaggio come Padma, che già Galep raffigurava come sereno e posato, Civitelli ha avuto gioco facile, a stupire è la sua rappresentazione di Lily Dickart: più algida e altera rispetto a quella di Claudio Villa vista nella storia Mefisto di Claudio Nizzi e molto meno prorompete rispetto a quella recentemente raffigurata da Roberto De Angelis nel recente Tex Willer Speciale intitolato Mefisto: Le origini del male. Se proprio vogliamo fare un paragone, la Lily Dickart di Civitelli si rifà maggiormente a quella di Galep delle origini che realizzò la prima Lily in assoluto in Fuorilegge.
In quanto alle figure dei pards e dei vari comprimari, Civitelli ha quasi 40 anni di storia texiana che parlano per lui.
In effetti in “Incubo” Parma diceva che si sarebbero rivisti.🤣
